Leiden Relief

On 2 and 3 October, the city centre of Leiden will be the site of the traditional Leidens Ontzet (Leiden Liberation) celebrations with many festivities. This annual celebration commemorates the Spanish siege of this city during the Eighty Years' War and the Relief of Leiden on 3 October 1574.

Annual events include the distribution of herring and white bread, the traditional memorial service, October 3 procession, eating stew and the funfair.

The city center of Leiden is easy to reach from Hotel Sassenheim-Leiden by train (5 minutes from Sasseheim NS station, then a 10-minute walk to the city center) or by car (10 minutes).
