Everyone knows the typical Dutch windmills, but what does a windmill actually look like inside? To discover and admire this, visit the Municipal Windmill Museum De Valk. The Municipal Windmill Museum De Valk is a tower mill from 1743 and a true icon of Leiden.
There are seven floors, and on the three upper floors you can see the actual milling operations. On the ground floor, you enter a miller’s residence, and from the gallery at the top, you have a beautiful view over the entire city.
Public Transport
The Municipal Windmill Museum De Valk is located in beautiful Leiden. You can easily reach the museum by public transport. NS Station Sassenheim is a 10-minute walk from our hotel. Four times an hour, a train departs to NS Station Leiden Centraal. The train ride takes only 6 minutes, and it is also a 6-minute walk from NS Station Leiden Centraal to the Municipal Windmill Museum De Valk.
The museum is also accessible by bus. From the Viaduct bus stop in Warmond, a 7-minute walk from our hotel, take the direct Arriva bus connection (Qliner 50) to NS Station Leiden Centraal. From the bus stop at NS Station Leiden Centraal, it is only a 6-minute walk to the Municipal Windmill Museum De Valk.
Parking
If you prefer to drive to the Municipal Windmill Museum De Valk, this is also possible. Via the A44, you can reach the museum in 13 minutes. Parking is available at Lammermarkt Parking Garage, located next to the museum.
