General

Can I cancel my room reservation?

If you have made your hotel reservation directly with our hotel, it can be canceled free of charge until 12:00 on the day of arrival, provided the cancellation conditions allow this. Only "non-refundable" rates cannot be canceled.

If your reservation was made through another party (booking, expedia, etc.), you must contact this party for your cancellation.

Can I celebrate my wedding at Van der Valk Hotel Sassenheim - Leiden?

This is certainly possible! For weddings (but also for other festive occasions) please contact our Banquet Sales department. They will be happy to schedule a personal appointment with you in which you will be given a tour and your wishes and options can be discussed.

How can I make a complaint?

If something does not go according to your wishes during your stay, we kindly ask you to report this immediately. In this way we can do our best to solve the problem and ensure that you have a pleasant stay with us.

About the hotel room

My room key (card) no longer works. What now?

Your room key (card) has a sensitive magnetic strip. Do not keep it too close to mobile devices and / or magnets, as this can affect the strip. Is your pass not working anymore? Please register at the reception.

What is the difference between a Comfort and a Deluxe room?

The main differences between our Comfort and Deluxe rooms are:

  • The Deluxe hotel rooms have an open bathroom, the Comfort rooms do not;
  • The Deluxe hotel rooms have a king-size bed, the Comfort rooms have twin beds;
  • The Deluxe hotel rooms have a rain shower;
  • The Deluxe hotel rooms have a separate toilet, the Comfort rooms do not;
  • The Deluxe hotel rooms have their own ironing facilities, the Comfort rooms do not.
Which rooms have a spa bath?

Our suites all feature a spa bath, with the exception of the South Suite and the Casino Suite.

How does the minibar in the room work?

A minibar is provided in every room. The minibar does not cool, but it does keep products cool. That is the difference with a refrigerator. The minibar in the hotel room is not stocked, but various packages are available at the reception. View this page for more information about the upgrade options.

Is smoking allowed in the room?

No, the entire hotel is smoke-free, so smoking in the room is not allowed. In addition, a zero-tolerance policy applies.

What time can I check in?

You can check in from 15:00 h. Would you like to arrive earlier? Then in some cases it is possible to book an early check-in. For more information, please contact the reception.

What time do I have to check out?

You can check out until 12:00 h. Would you like to use the hotel room for longer? Then you can request a late check-out, subject to availability. It is not possible to request a late check-out for our suites. The following costs will be charged for a late check-out:

  • Late check-out until 2 p.m.: € 25.00
  • Late check-out until 5:00 pm: € 50.00

A late check-out must always be requested in advance at the reception. Please contact us to check availability.

Are you booking with a Valk Loyal account?

Then you can enjoy a Lazy Sunday for free if you booked a room from Saturday to Sunday. This way you can enjoy a late check-out until 17:00 and an easy start of the morning*.

*Subject to availability and not valid on reduced rates or suite bookings.

Are pets allowed in the room?

No, unfortunately dogs, cats and other pets are not allowed in the rooms.

I have something to celebrate during my stay, can the room be decorated?

Yes, we offer several festive packages if you have something to celebrate during your stay! View this page for more information or contact the reception.

About our facilities 

Is there a bicycle shed?

Yes, we have a covered bicycle shed that you can use for free. Is the bicycle shed full? Then you can even put the bike inside us in one of the rooms (if available). Ask for it at the reception!

Can we charge our E-bikes?

Yes, you can charge E-bikes with us in the covered bicycle shed.

Can we rent bicycles at the hotel?

Yes, we rent out bicycles and E-bikes in the spring and summer months. There are also free bicycle routes available at our bicycle rental through the reception, but it is important that you reserve the bicycle or E-bike in advance. Click here for more information.

Can hotel guests use the sauna and fitness room for free?

Yes, as a hotel guest you can use our sauna and fitness facilities free of charge.

Is there a casino?

Yes, our hotel is directly adjacent to Jack's Casino, which you can enter through the central hall. The entrance (from 18 years) is free. View this page more information about the casino!

Can I park for free?

Yes, you can park for free in our parking lot.

About our suites

What facilities do the suites have?

Our hotel has six luxurious suites. All suites have their own theme, with different facilities. All suites feature a king-size bed, a spacious seating area and a large bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub. The use of the minibar in each suite is also included in the room price.
