Hortus Botanicus in Leiden is the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands, founded in 1590. For more than four centuries, the Hortus has formed the green heart of Leiden. Visitors can enjoy unique plant collections, both outdoors in the garden and indoors in the various greenhouses. A special focus of the hortus is southeast asia. In the garden and greenhouses, you will find many plants originating from china, japan, indonesia, and other southeast asian countries. Key collections include tropical orchids, ferns, carnivorous plants, and remarkable trees. The crown jewels are the top specimens that should not be missed during your visit.

On foot: From ns station leiden centraal: about 15 minutes. Follow the signs to hortus botanicus leiden. The green cargo bike serves as a landmark in front of the academiegebouw gate. Enter the hortus through the gate.

By bike: Park your bike at rapenburg or in the bike rack next to the hortus entrance. An electric bike charging station is also available.
Parking: Within 15 minutes by car from our hotel, you can reach hortus botanicus. In leiden, the best parking options are stadsparkeerterrein haagweg or parkeergarage centrum morspoort. From stadsparkeerterrein haagweg, a free shuttle bus can take you up to 80 meters from the hortus on request. From parkeergarage centrum morspoort, enjoy a scenic 15-minute walk along the leiden canals to the hortus.
