Museums
Museum Noordwijk, located in a beautifully preserved inland dune farmhouse that is 400 years old, offers a unique view of the history and culture of Noordwijk. This historic farmhouse is the only one in the Netherlands that has been preserved in its original state and houses an impressive collection of art and historical objects.
The museum holds the largest museum collection of earthenware from Porcelain Factory De Kroon (1906-1910), including top works by Henri Breetvelt (1864-1923). The collection also features artworks by renowned artists such as Oswald Wenckebach, Charlotte van Pallandt, and Maja van Hall, all of whom lived and worked in Noordwijk. Visitors can also enjoy a substantial number of paintings by Ludolph Berkemeier and J.H. Wijsmuller, depicting what Noordwijk looked like around 1900.
Museum Noordwijk presents several period rooms, furnished in the style of Noordwijk at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition, the museum provides extensive information on the town’s fishing history. Every year, the museum organizes engaging temporary exhibitions that add extra value to a visit.
