Enjoy the peace and vast open space in the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes. The dune area covers no less than 3,400 hectares and is located between Zandvoort and Noordwijk. Since 1853, two-thirds of Amsterdam’s drinking water has been pre-treated in this area.
In the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes, you can enjoy various walking routes that lead you along the most beautiful spots in the dunes.
From the age of 18, it is mandatory to purchase a day pass. A day pass costs €1.50 and can be purchased at the card payment machines at the four main entrances, or you can order your day pass online.
There are four main entrances to the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes:
De Zilk Entrance in De Zilk (15 minutes by car from Hotel Sassenheim-Leiden), address: Joppeweg 1, De Zilk
Panneland Entrance in Vogelenzang (20 minutes by car from Hotel Sassenheim-Leiden), address: Vogelenzangseduinweg 2
Oase Entrance in Vogelenzang (20 minutes by car from Hotel Sassenheim-Leiden), address: Eerste Leijweg 2
Zandvoortselaan Entrance in Zandvoort (30 minutes by car from Hotel Sassenheim-Leiden), address: Zandvoortselaan 130
You are welcome daily from sunrise to sunset in the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes!
At the Oranjekom/Oase Entrance, there is a visitor center where you can get a map, tips about the dunes, and more walking routes.
Address of the Oranjekom Visitor Center: Eerste Leijweg 6 (Oranjekom/Oase Entrance), opposite Vogelenzangseweg 21, 2114 BH, Vogelenzang. The visitor center is open weekly from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, including all public holidays.
Public transport
You can reach the main entrances of the dunes by public transport. The best starting point is NS Station Sassenheim, which is a 10-minute walk from our hotel. Plan your trip to one of the main entrances via the NS website.
Bike rental
Do you want to spend the entire day in nature? Rent a regular bike or e-bike at the reception of our hotel. Explore the surroundings and cycle to one of the main entrances, where you can continue your walk through the dunes.
