Museum De Lakenhal aims to encourage as many people as possible to look at Leiden’s past with fresh eyes. In the beautifully restored museum complex, a rich selection of visual art, applied arts, and history is presented through seven core stories.
Museum De Lakenhal is the museum for visual art, history, and applied arts of the city of Leiden. The city’s past is highlighted in seven collection presentations, including The Cradle of the Golden Age, Leiden as a University City, The Siege and Relief of Leiden, and Seven Centuries of Leiden Cloth. The internationally renowned collection includes many highlights such as Lucas van Leyden’s Last Judgment (1526–27), beautiful stained glass, and paintings by Rembrandt and his contemporaries.
