Keukenhof Castle

The event owes its name to Keukenhof Castle where a beautiful garden was laid out by the countess Jacoba van Beieren in the 15th century. Because she grew herbs and other ingredients for her kitchen there, it was called "Keukenhof." In 1950 the garden was used for flower exhibitions. Since then, popularity has grown and Keukenhof is known for the many varieties of flower bulbs that flower there.

Royal pavilions

In Keukenhof you can enjoy the famous pavilions, named after the Dutch royal family: Oranje Nassau Pavilion, Willem Alexander Pavilion, Wilhelmina Pavilion, Juliana Pavilion and the Beatrix Pavilion.

Flower shows in Keukenhof

Many flower and plant shows alternate in the pavilions. Here the growers display a huge variety of flowers and plants, in all colors and shapes. And of course top quality!

Keukenhof inspires its visitors with different styles in gardens, in which flower bulbs and bulb flowers play an important role. The parts of the park vary from the English-style landscape garden to the French-style baroque garden. Other parts of the park provide surprising lines of sight and exciting vistas, in which the old trees stand out well.

Keukenhof flower park

Originally the emphasis is on flower bulbs, but Keukenhof has much more to offer. In the natural garden, for example, shrubs and perennials are combined with wild plants. The historic garden offers old tulip varieties and uses these special varieties to show the long journey the tulip made before it arrived in the Netherlands. Visitors will find an excellent opportunity to get ideas for their own garden in the various inspiration gardens. In addition to the well-known mill, Molenbos has been developed where special types of bulbs have been planted for this wet forest environment. In addition, Keukenhof has a beautiful collection of around 100 works, characterized by a wide variety of styles.

For children Keukenhof has a maze, a play and animal meadow and a Miffy playground. A treasure hunt leads them past the most beautiful places in the park.
